Police impound bhang worth Sh800,000 in Kisumu

Police in Kisumu have recovered a motor vehicle loaded with Cannabis Sativa worth Sh800,000 on Homabay-Kisumu road.

According to the Kisumu County Police Commander Samuel Anampiu, the officers were tipped by a member of the public that there was a vehicle ferrying bhang.

He said that was when his officers from Pap Indigo Police Station and detectives from Nyakach organized for a search operation on the road and a silver Toyota vehicle registration number KCJ 387N was nabbed within Harambee area.

However, Anampiu told People Daily that the occupants, after noticing the police officers, ran away abandoning the motor vehicle unattended.

“We were able to get six sacks of 90 kilongrams capacity, three sacks of 50 kilongrams capacity, and 2350 sticks containing canabbis sativa brooms valued at Sh800,000,” he said.

Also recovered in the motor vehicle was a registration number plate bearing number KCM 258Q.

The vehicle was towed to police station and detained there awaiting investigation to find the owner.

The consignment were kept as exhibits in the store.
