Kenya Police FC coach Anthony Kimani has expressed confidence in his team’s preparation ahead of their crucial CAF Confederation Cup second preliminary round match against Zamalek.
The first leg will take place on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Nyayo National Stadium, where Police FC will aim for a strong start.
Kenya Police preps
Reflecting on their build-up to the match, Kimani highlighted the value of their recent training sessions.
“We’ve had a solid two weeks to prepare for this match since our last game against Ethiopia Coffee SC,” Kimani told FKF.
He added that the players are ready and eager to make their mark at home.
“The mood is really positive, every player is raring to go, and I’m confident that whoever gets the opportunity to represent us tomorrow will give their best to secure a result on home soil.”
This weekend’s encounter at Nyayo Stadium presents a significant test for Kenya Police FC, as they face Zamalek, a team with a storied history and vast experience in continental competitions.
While acknowledging the challenge posed by their opponents, Coach Kimani remained optimistic about his side’s chances.
Kenya Police awareness
“We are well aware of the quality and history that Zamalek brings to this tournament. However, we’ve identified a few weak points, and that’s what we’ll look to exploit to gain an advantage.”
Kenya Police FC earned their place in the second round after a hard-fought 1-0 aggregate victory over Ethiopia Coffee SC in the first round, with Rashid Toha’s decisive goal in the second leg securing the win.
The match against Zamalek is now set to be one of the most significant in the club’s history.
