Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has pleaded with Catholic bishops to agree to meet up with President William Ruto.

In a statement via X account on Sunday, November 17, 2024, Khalwale asked the men of cloth to advise and pray for the head of state.

In addition, the vocal Senator asked the clergy to ignore Oscar Sudi’s sentiments on the issues they raised about the Kenya Kwanza administration stating that his statement was not on behalf of Ruto’s regime.

“For the Catholic bishops, I don’t think the rebuttal by Hon Sudi to your well-thought-out critique of the government was and can have been on behalf of the government. Please agree to meet H.E.@WilliamsRuto to advise him and pray for him,” Khalwale said.

Bishops on Ruto’s regime

On Thursday, November 14, the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops reprimanded President Ruto’s administration over what they claimed is perpetuating the culture of lies and failing to address the issue of abductions.

The men of cloth went all out to castigate the Kenya Kwanza administration, claiming that it has failed to uphold integrity and has resolved to spew lies on major issues affecting the nation.

“This culture of lies, unkept promises, and misplaced priorities is unacceptable and needs to be dealt with,” the bishops said.

They further voiced concerns over an apparent erosion of truthfulness in public leadership.

“The culture of lies is swiftly replacing the integrity and respect that Kenyans deserve. Basically, it seems that truth does not exist, and if it does, it is only what the government says,” the bishops stated.

“Unfortunately, it seems that the Kenyans have helplessly tolerated the lies told to them constantly by the politicians. Kenyans must learn not to applaud or validate the lies that the politicians tell them, but rather must resolve to seek and be led by the truth.”

Sudi’s response

Moments after the Bishop’s presser, Oscar Sudi and other pro-government MPs started firing responses at the clergy accusing them of misleading Kenyans with their false statements.
