The leadership of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party together with their supporters on Sunday, November 10, 2024, thronged Ligisa Secondary School in Olare, Rangwe Sub-County in Homa Bay County, for Governor Glady’s Wanga’s thanksgiving ceremony.
Photos that have since been flaunted by the ODM party on social media show the opposition party’s supporters in orange colors.
The Orange party further revealed that its entire leadership had already arrived at the venue for the event.
The ODM leadership is being led at the event by the founding party leader Raila Odinga.
Governor Wanga is hosting the event to celebrate her new role as National Chairperson of the ODM party.
“At Ligisa School in Rangwe Constituency, HB County… the entire party leadership is present for the thanksgiving/interfaith prayers for Hon Gladys Wanga on her achievements in politics. She is the National Chairperson of the Party,” ODM stated.

Governor Wanga had on November 8, 2024, invited Kenyans to her event, in a statement shared via her official X account.
“Come join us on November 10th at Ligisa Secondary School in Olare, Homa Bay, for a special Thanksgiving ceremony and interdenominational prayers to celebrate my new role as National Chairperson of ODM. It’s a momentous occasion of support and unity for our beloved The ODM party,” Governor Wanga stated.

ODM named Governor Wanga as the Party’s new National Chairperson after her predecessor John Mbadi landed government appointment as the National Treasury Cabinet Secretary.
In a statement, ODM’s executive director Odour Ong’wen said the decision was made by the Central Committee in the National Executive Committee.
“On August 9, 2024, the Central Committee made changes in the National Executive Committee, where H.E. Gladys Wanga was named the National Chairperson of the ODM Party,” he stated.
The party also named Hamilton Orata as the acting chairperson of Homa Bay County Coordinating Committee, taking over from Wanga until new elections are held.
