Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah has expressed concern over the increasing rates of abduction among youthful Kenyans.

In his statement shared via his official X handle, the senator condemned the reported incidents noting that the cases raise concern on the effectiveness of the country’s security forces and protection of human rights.

He went on to state that the alarming incidents pose a threat to the safety of young Kenyans.

“Recent reports have revealed a troubling pattern, with numerous young Kenyans disappearing under circumstances often shrouded in mystery and fear. These abductions raise serious questions about the effectiveness of our security forces and the protection of human rights within our borders,” he said.

Omtatah additionally called on all citizens to advocate for accountability and demand transparency in all investigations related to the cases.

He also stated that all citizens should join hands as a community to ensure that the families affected are heard.

“It is imperative that we come together as a community to ensure that the voices of affected families are heard. We must advocate for accountability, demanding transparency and integrity in all investigations related to these cases,” he added.

“The safety of our youth is paramount, and it is our collective responsibility to protect them and restore their faith in our institutions. Together, we can work towards solutions that address these urgent issues and safeguard our people and their future.”

Omtatah’s remarks come after Free Kenya Movement coordinator and human rights activist Bob Njagi who was abducted in Kitengela was found alive after a public uproar.

This was confirmed by Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Faith Odhiambo who noted that he was found dumped at Tigoni in Kiambu County.

“At around 1 am Bob Njagi managed find his way to Tigoni police station and for assistance. He is alive and well,” Faith announced.

“‘The message from Bob and family,’ To family, friends and every Kenyan that has continued to pray for me, I wish to confirm that I am well and with my family. It is now time to quiet the noise, be grateful for life and for everyone to reflect on why Kenya matters.”

The LSK president also announced that three other missing Kenyans; Jamil Longton and his brother Aslam Longton were found in Gachie this morning.
