ODM issues update ahead of upcoming grassroot elections

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has issued an update to its members ahead of the upcoming grassroots elections scheduled for November 27, 2024.

The Orange party in a statement issued on Monday, November 18, 2024, updated the members that its National Elections Coordinating Committee (NECC) had conducted training and officially appointed the County Elections Committees (CECs) for all 47 counties.

The party also stated that only the polling unit elections will be conducted on November 27, in all
gazetted polling centres across the country, with the party members expected to elect a total of 30 officials.

“Following the notice issued on 4 November 2024 regarding the above subject, the NECC wishes to announce the following. That in collaboration with the Party’s Legal Committee, the NECC conducted training and officially appointed the County Elections Committees (CECs) for all the forty- seven (47) counties,” ODM stated.

“That only the polling unit elections will be conducted on the 27 November 2024 in all gazetted polling centres across the country.”

According to ODM, the 30 officials that will be elected in the upcoming polls are 10 officials of the Polling Unit Steering Committee, 10 officials of the Polling Unit Women League, and 10 officials of the Polling Unit Youth League.

Suspension of ODM member registration

ODM has also announced the suspension of the ongoing registration of members, which will be effected on November 20, 2024.

Therefore, the ODM supporters and members have been encouraged to use the remaining days to register and verify their membership details using a USSD code or by visiting the party’s website.

“To facilitate the preparation of the voter register, the ongoing registration of members will temporarily be suspended on Wednesday 20 November 2024. That Party supporters and members are encouraged to use the remaining days to register and verify their membership details by dialing *483 *036# or visit www.odmembership.com,” the party announced in the statement.

Electronic verification

During the election, ODM party members eligible to vote and vie for positions will undergo electronic verification at their respective polling units.

The party members have also been urged to visit their respective polling units/centres on Monday, November 25, 2024, at 10:00 am to elect presiding officers.

“That Party members are requested to avail themselves in their respective polling units/centers on Monday 25 November 2024 at 10 am for the purpose of electing a presiding officer, who will oversee the elections scheduled for 27 November 2024,” ODM stated.

“That in accordance with the Party Election & Nomination Rules, members who are interested in contesting for the stated Polling Unit Official positions shall pay a non- refundable fee of Kshs. 100/- to the Presiding Officer on the morning of 27th November 2024, before 10:00 a.m., upon which a receipt will be issued.”
