Nzoia Sugar FC have confirmed the return of Evance Kadenge as their Chairman as they begin life in the National Super League.

In July 2024, he retired after a 40-year association with the club, but has now made a comeback. The Nzoia Sugar Football Club’s board of management announced that Kadenge’s tenure as chairman began on September 13, 2024.
“The Board and Management of Nzoia Sugar Company, acting in their capacity as the Nzoia Sugar Football Club’s main sponsor, have appointed Mr. Evance Kadenge as the new chairman of Nzoia Sugar Football Club effective 13 September 2024,” the club stated.
Kadenge replaces Yapets Mokua, who had been the chairman when Nzoia Sugar FC finished second in the NSL to earn promotion to the Kenyan Premier League in 2017. Mokua stepped down from the role on September 11, 2024.
“Mr. Kadenge replaces Mr. Yapets Mokua, who resigned on 11 September 2024 and subsequently vacated the office of the Chairman of Nzoia Sugar Football Club,” read a statement from the club’s management.
The board emphasized that Kadenge’s extensive experience and successful track record across various roles made him the ideal choice for the chairman position.
“The sponsor considered Kadenge’s impeccable track record over the years in various capacities, starting as a player, assistant coach, and head coach. He later took up leadership roles as team manager and chairman of the club, where he exhibited exemplary performance,” the statement continued.
Nzoia Sugar confidence
The management expressed confidence in Kadenge’s leadership and experience, believing that he would be a valuable asset to the football community.
“Mr. Kadenge will lead a team of Football Club Committee members already handling various capacities in the club, who have pledged to give him their full support. We would like to request all our esteemed fans and stakeholders to accord him their full support as he takes on this noble task of bringing back the glory of Nzoia Sugar Football Club.”
Nzoia Sugar FC were relegated to the National Super League after a difficult 2023/24 Kenyan Premier League season.
Their 2024/25 NSL campaign kicks off on September 21, 2024, with a home match against Fortune FC at Sudi Stadium.
