KCSE large-candidature papers begin

The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) large-candidature examinations begin today, November 4, 2024, with the English Functional skills paper starting at 8:00 am to 10:00 am.

The other paper to be sat by the over 965,000 students in the 10,755 exam centres is Chemistry Paper 1 between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.

According to the Ministry of Education, all question papers in this year’s examinations will bear the students’ identification as part of a raft of measures in place to curb cheating.

Knec has also warned that candidates who engage in cheating will be held personally responsible for the offences and will not be used to punish an entire school or examination centre. Over the years, candidates at examination centres or schools with irregularities had their results cancelled or withheld.

KEPSHA meeting begins in Mombasa

The 21st Kenya Primary School Heads Association (KEPSHA) annual conference begins today at the Sheikh Zayed Hall in Mombasa, where primary school heads from across the nation will converge to address a host of pressing challenges in the education sector.

This year’s gathering is set to spotlight ongoing issues in Junior Secondary School (JSS) programmes, including the completion of Grade Nine classrooms, the deployment of much-needed teachers, and ongoing issues with the National Education Management Information System (NEMIS) portal.

Among the most urgent matters on the agenda is an appeal to the Ministry of Education to reconsider its stringent requirement that schools use NEMIS as the sole reference for all government transactions.
