Mass recruitment drive in Nakuru

The Ministry of Labour and Social Services will be undertaking a mass recruitment drive in Nakuru County today, Monday, November 25, 2024, as part of the government’s agenda to bridge the increasing unemployment gap.

In a statement on Sunday, November 24, 2024, Labour Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua said a recruitment exercise targeting at least 1,000 residents of Nakuru will take place today at the Rift Valley National Polytechnic from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The exercise comes just days after Mutua presided over similar recruitment exercises last week in the Ukambani counties of Machakos, Makueni, and Kitui.

“We have secured over 1000 job opportunities for Nakuru residents in countries such as Australia, Qatar, Poland, Dubai, Saudi Arabia, and Germany, among others,” Mutua said.

Some of the highlights of Ruto’s speech were that more than 60 per cent of payroll workers had transitioned from the defunct NHIF to the Social Health Authority (SHA), SHA will pay all claims from October this week, all Adani Group dealings were cancelled, an additional 20,000 teachers were recruited by January 2025, and all 17 sugar factories in Kenya were operational.

The House will hold sittings for purposes of debate on the President’s address and consideration of priority business ahead of the long recess,” National Assembly speaker Moses Wetang’ula said in a statement on November 19, 2024.
