The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Wiper Party has announced its resolution to ditch the National Supper Alliance (NASA).

Speaking to the press shortly after the meeting that sealed the deal, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka said his party will be exiting Nasa to solidify its membership in the One Kenya Alliance (OKA).

“We have had a lengthy discussion this evening as Wiper party which has culminated into our decision to ditch Nasa and welcome a new formidable coalition which in my view will be spearheaded by the One Kenya Alliance. We are sure of the direction we want to take and we are determined to take that decision,” Kalonzo said.

He also stated that his party is still in cooperation with the Jubilee party and added that OKA might work with the ruling party for the 2022 General Elections.

Kalonzo also welcomed the ODM party to OKA saying their decision to ditch NASA is not aimed at weakening the Raila Odinga-led party.

“Wiper party is still in cooperation with the Jubilee party…It should not be a surprise in future to see One Kenya Alliance working with the Jubilee party. We, therefore, welcome our ODM brothers to OKA. We are not killing Nasa and ODM at the same time,” Kalonzo said.

The Wiper leader exuded confidence that the One Kenya alliance will form the next government.

At the same time, Kalonzo welcomed NASA CEO Norman Magaya to the Wiper party and said he will be working closely with him.

“Norman is a very famous name. He said before they wind up NASA, they might wind him up as well. Norman thank you so much for joining Wiper. He is going to work very closely with the party leader going forward,” he said.

Wiper party now joins ANC and Ford Kenya in their bid to exit Nasa.

If the three outfits write to the Registrar of Parties to withdraw their membership from NASA, the coalition will be officially dead.
