You have failed the people, Bomet senator tells Governor over sorry state of health facilities
Bomet Senator Christopher Langat

Bomet Senator Christopher Langat has ignited a fresh battle with Governor Hillary Barchok asking him to sack all health officials at the county over alleged incompetence on the manner they are running the department.

Expressing disappointment over what he termed as poor state of health facilities in the county, Langat said there was need for all those in charge to be dismissed for “failing the residents.”

Addressing the press after making a tour to Longisa County Hospital in Bomet east, the senator said it was sad that such a facility serving thousands of people was going without water with patients being forced to buy from local vendors.

While terming the situation at as dire and worrying, Langat accused the county chief of being insensitive to the lives of his people by failing to crack the whip on those responsible.

Painting a picture of a failed department, those who spoke to us said women visiting the facility to deliver are the most affected as they are forced to go back home without bathing.

And, with the growing number of patients being admitted, some are forced to share beds.

The facility among other key institutions at the county have been going without water for the last one month after the Kenya power and lighting company disconnected electricity at key pumping sites over accrued bills.

The installations have now been relying on water boozers that move around supplying the commodity.

“Mr Governor, this is not politics, come see for yourself the situation hereā€¦there is completely no water, patients are suffering, our people are suffering,” said an angry senator.

Langat said failure by the particular officials to ensure there are proper services has subjected the residents and patients to unnecessary agony.

In a quick rejoinder, however, Barchok shrugged off the allegations as untrue saying there was a surplus of water at the facility.

He warned the senator against politicizing the mater noting the storage tanks with a capacity of 50,000 liters full.

“Those moving around making wild allegations should desist from politicizing the sector,” he stated.

Barchok spoke when he handed over assorted disaster management personal protective equipment.
