‘You can go home anytime’ – Opposition leaders tell Ruto, urge him to deliver promises to Kenyans
A section of leaders from the opposition have urged President William Ruto to start delivering on the promises made to Kenyans.
Addressing a congregation at an event over the weekend, the leaders led by DAP-K party leader Eugene Wamalwa underscored that the president risks impeachment should he fail to deliver on the pledges he made to Kenyans during the campaign period.
Alluding to the recent impeachment of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Wamalwa while referring to the analogy of the driver and the tout, insinuated that the two who were elected on one ticket should have been ousted as one.
“Tunasema bwana Ruto, wewe ndio Zakayo mwenyewe, Gachagua alikua Zakayo mdogo, kama Zakayo mdogo ameenda yeye ni makanga, dereva ndiye aliingiza gari kwa mtaro na zakayo aende asiende makanga akishuka dereva pia ashuke. Kufa dereva, kufa makanga,” he said.
Saboti Member of Parliament (MP) Caleb Amisi echoed Wamalwa’s sentiments noting that Ruto should embark on delivering his promises.
He also weighed in on the term limits proposal sponsored by Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei saying the president was the key sponsor of the proposal which was quashed by the majority of Kenyans.
He also warned the president to tread carefully as he could get ousted any time in the same manner that he pushed for the impeachment of his former deputy Rigathi Gachagua.
“Wazungu wanasema when it walks like a duck, it quacks like a duck, it swims like a duck, then it is a duck. Hio mswada si ya Cheruiyot, ni ya William Ruto na tunataka tumwambie hii mzigo uliwekea baba ako karibu kushusha, wakati umetoa Rigathi umewachwa bila nguo. You can go home anytime.”
