You are shameful and careless – Isaac Ruto bashes Bomet County government
Chama cha Mashinani (CCM) party leader Isaac Ruto has termed the current water shortage facing Longisa hospital in Bomet as ‘shameful’ and carelessness on the part of the county leadership side.
Speaking during a function at Bomet East, the former governor took on Barchok asking him to stop shifting blames and serve the people by ensuring crucial services are running as expected.
Ruto said there was no reason why such a largest facility at the county serving thousands of people from across the region was doing without the commodity.
Weighing in on the recent outbursts by senator Christopher Langat against governor Hillary Barchok, Ruto said the lives of the people were critical and as such it is wrong for anyone to take it lightly.
He said it is wrong and unrealistic for him to blame the national government for failing to release funds yet people are suffering and in need of critical services.
“You cannot tell us the reason why there is no water in hospital is because you have not paid electricity bills just because you have not received funds from the treasury, that is so shameful,” said Ruto.
He posed, “when I was the governor I bought diesel engine generators for all the water pumps at the treatment sites, if there is no money why can’t you approach the petrol station owners in town to get you fuel as you wait for the money and have water pumped?”
Last week, Senator Langat ignited the debate asking Barchok to sack all health officials at the county over alleged incompetence on the manner they are running the department.
He made the remarks after making a tour of Longisa hospital in Bomet east.
He claimed patients were being forced to buy from local vendors.
In response, however, Barchok dismissed as untrue the allegations saying there was a surplus of water at the facility.
