Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja yesterday asked investigative agencies to probe City Hall if they have evidence that revenue is being misappropriated.

Sakaja spoke in the wake ofclaims by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) that Nairobi is among counties with revenue accountability shortfalls.

“If they are aware of any loophole in revenue collection, let them support us. Nairobi has the potential of collecting up to Sh40 billion,” Sakaja (pictured) said.

EACC had listed Nairobi, Kilifi, Kajiado and Narok counties as the most with revenue loopholes.
Early this year, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) launched investigations into suspected fraudulent payment of hundreds of millions of shillings by the county government of Nairobi for goods never supplied and services not rendered.

DCI says the nine listed firms are believed to have been used in a money laundering schemes and fraudulent payments.
