Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula has accused former Prime Minister Raila Odinga of denying his brother Westlands Member of Parliament (MP) Timothy Wanyonyi a ticket to run for the Nairobi governor seat.

Wetangula said despite Wanyonyi being the most popular candidate in the race, the ODM leader ignored him and gave Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya ticket to banker Polycarp Igathe.

"Raila grabbed the opportunity like a robber and gave it to someone else. Tim is a person living with a disability. If he could do that to a disabled person, what can he do to a person who can walk?" He posed.

He added: "I am telling you Honorable Prime Minister, God is watching and He will punish you."

Wetangula said the Luhya community will not support Raila for "denying" their son a ticket to run for the seat of the governor of Nairobi.

The decision to have Igathe fly the Azimio flag was made after a series of meetings between the Azimio leaders.

Raila made the announcement at KICC where he had a meeting with the Azimio council.

Igathe will be deputized by former Kibwezi MP Prof Phillip Kaloki.

Wanyonyi, who was vying for the position, stepped down and will be seeking to recapture his Westlands Constituency seat.

According to Raila, the Azimio La Umona senator candidate for Nairobi will be Edwin Sifuna who is also the ODM secretary-general.

Incumbent Woman representative Esther Pasarris has also been okayed to fly the Azimio la Umoja flag and will now be contesting against Millicent Omanga who has been given the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket.

Richard Ngatia will be appointed as Presidential Envoy for trade. Igathe will be battling for the seat with Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja.
