We’ll roll out police reforms, says PS Omolo
Interior and National Administration Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo has reiterated that the government will implement the report of the task force on police reforms.
The report contains a raft of recommendations to improve the working conditions and welfare of security officers.
Omollo said the recommendations include logistics, mobility and equipment to be used by the National Police Service, the Prisons Service and the National Youth Service to enhance their work and streamline service delivery.
Speaking when he commissioned a modern police station at Sosiot Centre in Belgut constituency which was funded by the National Government Constituency Development Fund at a cost of Sh9 million, Omollo said the government is planning to build similar facilities across the country.
Economic agenda
Omollo who was accompanied by the Rift Valley Regional Commissioner Abdi Hassan, Belgut legislator Nelson Koech, Gem MP Elisha Odhiambo, and other leaders, urged Kenyans to support the work of the police and the National Government Administration Officers in the implementation of the Kenya Kwanza economic agenda.
The Principal Secretary also assured residents that, in consultation with his Immigration and Citizen Services counterpart Julius Bitok, they will ensure the Department of Registration of Births and Death is established at Sosiot Centre to make it easier for them to access civil registration services.
Omollo directed the Regional Commissioner to eradicate a gambling menace at Chepnyoga Centre, Mobego village where residents are hooked to gaming, sale and consumption of illicit brews.
The Interior PS also laid a foundation stone for the modernisation of Mobego Primary School in Belgut where the area MP intends to allocate Sh18 million from the NG-CDF for the project.
Koech gave out a cheque of Sh3 million to start off the project.
