‘We as the Mt Kenya region remain silent but don’t forget’ – Gachagua
Impeached Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has once again weighed in on his recent ouster.
Speaking on Sunday, October 26, 2024, Gachagua appreciated Kenyans who showed him support during his impeachment process, he also stated that contrary to the expectation that the people of the Mount Kenya region would start protests over his ouster, the said region chose to remain silent.
Gachagua, however, indicated that the silence should not be mistaken for surrender because those from the region forgive but don’t forget.
“I want to thank Kenyans for praying for me during this time. Kenyans are very wise and they know everything. Many people thought that there would be protests after my impeachment but they don’t know us,” Gachagua said.
“We as the Mt Kenya region remain silent but don’t forget. They think we as the Mt Kenya region we would have forgotten what is happening by 2027. I want to tell them that we forgive but we don’t forget.”
Gachagua further expressed confidence that the judiciary will deliver justice urging those from the Mount Kenya region to maintain silence and only speak when the time is right.
“I want to ask the Mt Kenya region to remain silent. We will talk when the right time comes. I trust and know that the Judiciary will deliver victory to Gachagua and Kenyans who voted for me,” he added.
At the same time, Gachagua called on Kenyans to embrace peace and unity amid his ongoing legal battle with the National Assembly over his impeachment.
The impeached deputy president is challenging the manner in which he was ousted without being granted the opportunity to be heard.
