Senior managers of Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company (NCSW) were yesterday put to task to explain why the firm has been unable for hire a substantive Director of Human Resources and Administrative Services seven years down the line.

It emerged during the Water and Sanitation Committee meeting yesterday at City-hall that despite the position being advertised last year and candidates interviewed, no one was hired for the position since one person did not show up for the interviews.

Managing Director (NCWC) Nahashon Muguna (pictured) was at pains to explain why despite using taxpayers’ money to hire a consultant firm to help in the recruitment, the candidate who emerged number one was awarded the job.

“There is something fishy with this post and Kenyans must know the truth. Who is this who is holding the company hostage? Are there positions that are reserved for particular individuals,” posed the committee chair Redson Otieno.

The committee also questioned why the company also hired the board to conduct interviews despite hiring PKF, a consulting firm, to do the job.
