Wamatangi and Achani travelled least – report

Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi and his Kwale counterpart Fatuma Achani (pictured) are the least travelled according to a report by the Controller of Budget.
The Kiambu County Executive, which includes the governor, spent Sh790,000 only on foreign travel making two visits to Rwanda and Germany.
According to COB Margret Nyakang’o, Wamatangi travelled to Kigali for Capacity Building for Bus Operation Policy & Management and Dares Salam, Tanzania where he spent Sh93,665.
Three officers from the executive travelled to Berlin, Germany to attend a Karate Championship and spent Sh789,000.
During the period, Kwale County expenditure on foreign travel amounted to Sh580,000 where 23 officers went to Dar es Salam for a training programme on understanding Public Sector Budget Programme.
“During the period, the County Executive’s expenditure had set aside Sh37.4 million for domestic travel,” reads the report.
Garissa’s Nathif Jamah spent Sh3.2 million on travel while the County Assembly spent Sh23 million on domestic travel. There were no foreign trips reported during the year.
During the period, expenditure on domestic travel amounted to Sh26.31 million and comprised of Sh23.04 million spent by the County Assembly and Sh3.26 million by Executive.
Governor Cecily Mbarire of Embu County was another low spender on travel both domestic and foreign. During the period the Embu county executive spent Sh6.15 million making it the third in the list of those who spent the smallest amount.
Isiolo County executive under Governor Abdi Guyo had the highest expenditure on foreign and domestic trips.
