Wahu’s date with the court

Gospel singer Wahu Kagwi found herself on the wrong side of the law yesterday morning, after she was arraigned with several counts of traffic offences.

The Nifanane Nawe hitsinger was charged for overtaking dangerously, driving without a valid driver’s license and obstruction.

She was presented at the Milimani Law Courts in Nairobi, where the court was told she had engaged in the offences the same morning on Ring Road in Kileleshwa, Nairobi.

In her defense, Wahu, who was driving a Mercedes Benz 440L, said she did not understand the obstruction charge levelled against her and asked Magistrate Elector Riani to explain it to her, which the magistrate did.

She was released on a cash bail of Sh15,000 after she denied all the offences. The matter will be mentioned on December 5, this year.

Last year, singer Otile Brown was also on the spot, after ramming into three people with his white Mercedez Benz around Nairobi’s Yaya Centre.
