Uhuru reopens Nyayo Stadium

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Saturday presided over the reopening of the Nyayo National Stadium that was under rehabilitation.

The Head of State commended on the new look of the stadium that has been under renovation since 2017.

At Nyayo, the President said global athletic bodies are satisfied with Kenya’s Covid-19 containment measures.

He commended Kenya for being selected to host the World Athletics Gold Continental Tour, dubbed Kip Keino-Classic to be held on October 3.

“I have been entrusted to host this athletics continental tour event over the confidence in the containment Covid-19 rules. The event is the first to be held in Africa,” he said.

Mr Kenyatta said his administration is committed to delivering stadia all over the country, as they promised in the Jubilee Manifesto with his Deputy William Ruto.
