Two people perish in dawn Migaa road crash

Two people died in a road accident involving a mid-sized lorry and an 18-wheeler truck near the dreaded Migaa area near Salgaa town on Wednesday morning.

Police said the brakes of the lorry failed and hit the truck from behind.

The lorry was ferrying maize and both vehicles were headed towards Nakuru from Eldoret.

Aboard the lorry was the driver and to other male occupants.

The deceased were the driver and the owner of the load in the lorry.

“This morning at around 5 am, the lorry’s brakes failed and it hit the rear of a trailer. The canter driver and the owner of the maize died on the spot while the injured loader was rushed to the Molo GSU dispensary,” said Molo traffic boss James Gatara.

The Migaa section of Eldoret-Nakuru highway is a dreaded black spot for most drivers who frequent the accident-prone road.

According to the National Transport and Safety Authority(NTSA), Migaa is one of the most dreaded black spots for road users in Kenya.
