Police yesterday arrested two relatives suspected to be behind the bizarre killings of an expectant mother, an unborn and two other children in Poroko village, Transmara West Sub-County, Narok county.

Emmanuel Siakati, 17, and Samuel Siakati, 40, were arrested with a mobile phone (Sicoo, black ) that belonged to the deceased. It was recovered from the house of the first suspect.

Police officers from Kilgoris station and sleuths from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Transmara West Sub-County, rushed to the scene on Sunday night after Poroko location Chief Bilton Shankil reported the incident.

Preliminary investigations indicated Emmanuel stabbed the woman dead and then killed the two boys.

Speaking after the incident, Chief Shankil said the main suspect, a Class Eight pupil at Kipupu Primary School, went to the home of the deceased on a revenge mission following his arrest by police allegedly for burglary.

“He was out on a probation sentence of two years and was still under police watch. He had been arrested and locked in prison for one month for stealing household items from the victim’s home two months ago,” said Chief Shankil on a phone interview with People Daily

Shankil said the killings happened hardly a week after the suspect was released on bond.

Rescued by police

Narok county police boss Kizito Mutoro said a blood-stained panga, knife and scabbard were recovered from Samuel, which police believe were used in the killings.

Mutoro said the woman was rescued by police and rushed to St Joseph Hospital. Later, she was referred to Narok Referral Hospital where she succumbed to the injuries.

The bodies of her sons—10-year-old Evans Mioki and five-year-old Eliot Leitipa—were found dumped 150 metres from their home on Monday, said Mutoro.

Trans Mara West Sub-County commander Hamisi Ganzallah said the suspect was arrested after he presented himself to the Kilgoris Police Station and gave contradictory statements, raising suspicions.

As the police were probing the deaths, the suspect is said to have confessed to solely killing the two boys and causing the death of their mother.

“The suspect came to Kiligoris Police Station and told us that he had been attacked and injured by criminals while heading home,” he said.

“One Juliet Naeku Simon Maasai, a female adult aged 35 years, was attacked by unknown people who assaulted her by cutting her on the head and chest, causing multiple injuries. She was taken to Kilgoris Sub-County Hospital for treatment and later moved to Narok Referral Hospital in serious condition, where she succumbed to the injuries,” says the police report.

The bodies have since been moved to St Joseph Mission Hospital Mortuary in Kilgoris, pending postmortem.
