Two die in Mombasa Road car crash

Two people died and two others sustained injuries in grisly road accident on Mombasa Road after a vehicle they were traveling in plunged into Athi River after being hit by a trailer on Friday.

According to an eye witness, a speeding trailer on transit to Nairobi from Mombasa hit a pick up while trying to overtake it at Mto Mawe bridge.

The trailer driver is said to have lost control swerving off the bridge and both vehicles plunged into the river after damaging the bridge guard rails.

The pick up with two occupants was submerged in water with the trailer on top of it.

The trailer driver was rushed to hospital with minor injuries.

Recovery of the two bodies is ongoing.
