Twenty murder cases recorded last week in Kenya

At least 20 people have been murdered across the country in the last one week, according to police records.

On Monday, Elkana Kiprono Kipsang lured his elder brother, Edward Kiptarus Kisang to a shopping centre in Kaben, Marich sub-location, Kerio Valley where he attacked him using a bow and arrow and a panga. The two had earlier met their mother where they discussed their animosity and agreed to forgive each other.

The body was transferred to Tot sub-county hospital but suspect is yet to be arrested.

In another incident in Keringet Kuresoi, the Kapkembo Chief reported that Aoron Kipsang aged 24, was murdered while in company of his friends. The deceased and friends and were escorting some three girls when a fight broke out and he was stabbed on the neck. A suspect has been arrested and the body had been transferred to Olenguruone Sub-County hospital.

On Saturday, Dennis Madegwa Odida, aged 18, was also stabbed on the left side of the chest by a suspect identified as Paul Onyango in Gita, Kisumu West. He was rushed to Goibei Mission hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Another man identified as Matoke Maina, aged 52, was also killed after his wife and son doused him with sulphuric acid as he was sleeping following a domestic quarrel. The widow and son were arrested.

Mob justice

At least ten cases where victims were killed by mobs have also been reported within the same period. In Ndhiwa, Homa Bay county, a man who is yet to be identified was on Sunday attacked by the locals at Bonde on suspicion of being a thief.

Geoffrey Mbugua Kuria was also killed by the locals at Subukia trading centre on Sunday after he was caught stealing a gas cylinder and other household goods.

A mob also killed Brian Nyaga in Wanguru, Mwea West after he and his accomplice were found vandalising parked motor vehicles. Similar attacks were reported in Nairobi, Mombasa and Nyeri, within the same period.
