Opposition Chief Raila Odinga has suffered a blow after his move to discipline a “rebel” senator was thwarted by the Political Parties Dispute Tribunal.

The tribunal, chaired by Desma Nungo stopped the Azimio la Umoja coalition from replacing Isiolo Senator Fatuma Dullo as the Senate Minority Whip over her association with the Kenya Kwanza government.

Coalition stopped

The tribunal also stopped the coalition from removing other members of Jubilee party from parliamentary committees. Kilifi Senator Stewart Madzayo who is the Senate Minority Leader and Narok Senator Ledama Olekina who replaced Dullo during the recent purge on rebel lawmakers, as well as the Senate Speaker Amason Kingi have been named as interested parties in the case filed by Dullo and Jubilee Party. The Isiolo senator and Jubilee party claim they are being condemned without being heard contrary to the principles of natural justice.

Dullo argues that if the case is not stopped by the Tribunal, her purported removal will be communicated to the Senate in blatant disregard to lawful procedures.
