More than 20, 000 vulnerable households are being targeted to benefit from government food supplies in Trans Nzoia County in the event a lockdown is imposed in the country to contain the spread of the Coronavirus.
The County Commissioner Samson Ojwang said chiefs have been tasked by the county’s food security committee to identify the vulnerable families which will benefit from government food supplies, in the worst case scenario.
“The chiefs are creating a database of the vulnerable families in slums and other parts of the county who will be given the first priority in the event the country is locked down. This process is continuous,” said Mr. Ojwang.
The area county government has also forwarded a Sh 150 million supplementary budget to the area county assembly.
If passed, the funds will be used in containing the effects of the Corona virus in the region.
