Traffic in Mai Mahiu has been interrupted following the heavy rainfall which has led to road blockages.
The Kenya Highways National Authority (KeNHA) has confirmed that sections of the Mai Mahiu road are currently impassable due to road blockages caused by debris and the overflow of water courses.
KeNHA has confirmed that approximately 700 meters from Mai Mahiu towards Naivasha, and approximately 1 kilometre from Mai Mahiu towards Suswa/Narok have been affected.
“Heavy rains in the catchment areas of Kinale and Kijabe have led water courses to experience an upsurge which has led to the washing away of debris and several houses,” KeNHA statement revealed.
“KeNHA informs the public that the following road sections are now impassable; approximately 700m from Mai Mahiu towards Naivasha and approximately 1km from Mai Mahiu towards Suswa/Narok,” the statement confirmed.
These areas are experiencing heavy traffic congestion, and motorists are advised to plan their routes accordingly.
KeNHA has deployed a team to clear the roads but confirmed that traffic is at a standstill in Mai Mahiu centre.
