Tottenham send Christian Eriksen message after Denmark captain collapses in Euro 2020 fixture

Tottenham Hotspur have said their thoughts are with former player Christian Eriksen after he was stretchered off the field after collapsing during Denmark’s clash with Finland at Euro 2020.
The former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder fell to the ground late in the first half of the Group B opener in Copenhagen, collapsing with no opponent around him.
Eriksen, 29, received possession from a throw-in on the left wing and subsequently collapsed face first. English referee Anthony Taylor, two Finnish players and a Danish team-mate immediately recognised the need for urgent medical attention.
Eriksen appeared to receive CPR from medical staff as his team-mates, visibly shaken and many in tears, formed a circle around him to offer some privacy.
Both teams have since left the field with Eriksen leaving on a stretcher, surrounded by sheets, with UEFA confirming that the Euro 2020 fixture has been suspended after Christian Eriksen collapsed on the pitch.
Eriksen’s former club Tottenham have been among those taking to social media to share a message of support for the 29-year-old since.
In a tweet, Spurs said: “All of our thoughts are with Christian Eriksen and his family.”
Tottenham are not the only club to have shared a message of support for the midfielder, with several Premier League clubs, the Premier League’s official account and players posting messages via social media.
UEFA have since confirmed in a tweet that Eriksen has been transferred to hospital and has been stabilised.
UEFA also confirm that following the medical emergency involving Eriksen, a crisis meeting has taken place with both teams and match officials, with further information set to be communicated at 19:45 CET.
