World Aids day

Cabinet Secretary for Health, Nakhumicha Wafula, will preside over the annual World AIDS Day commemoration in Meru County, emphasizing the theme “Let Communities Lead” according to the World Health Organization (WHO) calendar.

The event comes two days after Kenya celebrated 20 years of the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief [PEPFAR].

The focus has shifted from an emergency program to comprehensive epidemic control.

Transport crackdown

The Transport Ministry, in collaboration with Government Agencies, is gearing up for a nationwide crackdown targeting illegal public service vehicles, aiming to enhance road safety during festive periods.

On Friday, December 1, various regions across the country will experience disruptions in transportation services as government authorities conduct the crackdown on unauthorized public service vehicles (PSVs).

This comes after the 2023 economic survey indicated that 4,690 individuals lost their lives on Kenyan roads in 2022.

This marked a 5.5% rise from the 2021 reported deaths of 4,579, with the total road accident casualties for 2022 reaching 21,757, up from 20,625 in the preceding year.

CECAFA final round

In CECAFA Champions Group A action, Kenya is set to face Somalia in Kakamega, and Sudan will take on Rwanda in Kisumu on Friday.

These matches will determine pool leaders advancing to the semis, with Kenya already having secured their spot.
