Here is what you need to know to get up to speed with today’s happenings.

1. Mudavadi US tour

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi arrived in Washington DC, USA on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, for a three-day tour.

Mudavadi will be engaging senior officials in discussions on the Kenya-United States Strategic Trade and Investment Partnership, with a specific focus on enhancing cooperation between the two nations.

He was accompanied by his wife among other state officials.

2. Ex-KPC CEO fraud case continues

Former Kenya Pipeline Company Limited(KPC) CEO Shem Odongo’s case alongside three co-accused will be mentioned today at the Milimani Anti-corruption court.

The suspects are charged with conspiracy to defraud.

Their allegations are related to irregular debt refinancing Triple A company to KPC that cost the State corporation to incur losses of over Ksh286 million.

3. EAC meeting over Namanga border

Members of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) have set up camp at the Namanga One-Stop-Border Point (OSBP) in a concerted effort to address trade disputes between Kenya and Tanzania.

Led by Kanini Kega, who represents Kenya at the EALA, the 11-member special committee is engaging with traders, cross-border business community and government officials to assess the current and emerging challenges affecting business at this bustling border point.

The three-day consultative meeting is scheduled to conclude tomorrow.
