Raila in Lamu

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga is scheduled to be in Lamu on Monday as part of the party’s efforts to strengthen its political base.

The party aims to revitalize its support and ensure its continued vibrancy. Raila is expected to spend several days in the coastal towns until Saturday, engaging with supporters and addressing political matters.

Launch of TB plan

Additionally, Monday will witness the launch of the National Strategic Plan for Tuberculosis, Leprosy, and Lung Health.

The event will be attended by Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Health, Nakhumicha S. Wafula. The launch is particularly significant as Tuberculosis remains a leading infectious cause of death globally.

Kenya, being one of the 30 high TB burden countries, has been working to address the challenges posed by TB.

The country has made commendable progress in reducing TB incidence and mortality, as demonstrated by a 32% decline in TB incidence and a 42% reduction in mortality between 2015 and 2020.

Despite these achievements, the country continues to face challenges, and the launch will introduce crucial strategies and interventions, including the National Strategic Plan for Tuberculosis, Leprosy, and Lung Health 2023/24 – 2027/28.

Infotrak polls

Infotrak will also release findings from its Voice of the People Poll, focusing on the economic challenges faced by Kenyans.

With the high cost of living and economic difficulties being key concerns for citizens in 2023, the poll will shed light on Kenyans’ perspectives on their current financial situations, the impact of economic hardships, and the strategies adopted to cope with challenges.

AFCON 2023

In the realm of sports, four Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) matches are set for Monday night in Ivory Coast. Two matches at 8:00 p.m. will feature Guinea Bissau against Nigeria at Félix Houphouët-Boigny Stadium, with the outcome deciding Nigeria’s progress to the last 16.

Meanwhile, at the Olympic Stadium of Ebimpé, hosts Ivory Coast will face Equatorial Guinea in a crucial match to avoid disappointment at home.

The later matches at 11:00 p.m. will see Mozambique take on Ghana and Cape Verde, who have already qualified, facing Egypt.
