Here is what you need to know in order to get up to speed with today’s happenings.
Ruto in China
President William Ruto will be concluding his three-day official tour to China today.
The Head of State is in China for the Third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation whose theme is “High-quality Belt and Road Cooperation: Together for Common Development and Prosperity.”
On Tuesday, Ruto held talks with Pakistan Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar and affirmed that Kenya is open for business and partnerships that will benefit the people.
“We welcome the expression of interest by the government of Pakistan to enhance trade relations with a focus on pharmaceutical products and medical equipment. We also look forward to strengthening our cultural relations,” Ruto said.
Sospeter Ojaamong graft case
The case involving former Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong and five others charged with abuse of office and economic crimes will be mentioned today in the Milimani Anti-Corruption court.
The former County boss is alleged to have irregularly procured a solid waste management feasibility project worth Ksh8 million and Madan R Enterprises by the Busia County government.
Other mentions in the Anti-Corruption court involve Nicholas Owino and three others in a suit for forfeiture to the government of the defendant’s unexplained assets worth Ksh1.21 billion.
On the other hand, the case involving a former Homa Bay County Assembly Clerk and 5 others’ recovery of Ksh28 million illegally and fraudulently acquired by the defendants from the Homa Bay County Assembly between 2013 – 2017 will also be mentioned.
