16 Days of Activism against GBV
The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence will reach its 13th day this Thursday.
Initiated on November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, this annual campaign runs until December 10, Human Rights Day.
Originally started by activists in 1991, the campaign serves as a global call for the prevention and elimination of violence against women and girls.
In support of this initiative, the United Nations Secretary-General launched the UNITE by 2030 campaign in 2008, running parallel to the 16 Days of Activism.
This year’s UNITE Campaign focuses on the theme “UNITE! Invest to prevent violence against women and girls.”
Citizens and governments worldwide are urged to showcase their commitment to ending gender-based violence and share investment strategies in prevention.
