Top DJ turns to cooking as Covid-19 bites

By , July 17, 2020

Shamim Chemtai aka DJ Mimi, one of Kenya’s top female deejays, has now turned to cooking and selling pastries as a way to sustain herself during the Covid-19 crisis.

She told Spice that since the government banned gatherings and parties, deejays and other players in the entertainment industry had been hit had, a thing that has forced them to look for alternative means of making money.

“Although I have been holding online gigs, there’s no enough money to even sustain myself.

And since cooking is one of many passions, I decided to use it to generate income,” she said.

Mimi delivers her cookery to offices and homes in bulk after receiving orders through her social media platforms.
