Top 10 pupils in 2023 KCPE

The Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) results were released early on Thursday with Riara Springs Academy Michael Muturi Warutere getting 428 marks.
He was followed by Gilgil Hills School girls and Jacinta Bethany Khasundi from St Annes Mumias managing 427 marks.
KCPE 426 marks
Light Academy’s Khadija Yunis and Rae Kanyika Primary’s Felix Ochola had 426 marks with Debra Aluel of Ndima Kanini getting 425 marks.
Trevor Njenga and George Kipkoech had 423 marks. Joymadrine Wangui scooped 422 marks and Elon Kimutai was among over eight students who had 421 marks.
Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu officially released the results of the 2023 KCPE examination on Thursday morning.
The top candidate achieved a score of 428 marks out of a possible 500, a slight decrease from the previous year’s highest score of 431.
Machogu revealed that a total of 1,415,325 pupils were registered for the 2023 KCPE exam, with 1,406,557 candidates actually sitting for the exam.
Among them, 8,525 candidates scored between 400-500 marks, while 352,782 candidates scored 300-399 marks. Another 658,278 candidates attained a score of 200 to 299 marks, and 383,025 others scored between 100 to 199 marks. Additionally, 2060 pupils scored between 001 and 099 marks.
This KCPE exam marked the conclusion of the 8-4-4 education system in Kenya after 39 years, paving the way for the full implementation of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
After KCPE
Kenya National Examinations Council CEO David Njeng’ere mentioned that the results for 1.2 million Grade Six learners who sat for the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) exam will be disclosed at a later date.
