TIFA survey: Majority of Kenyans oppose the Broad-Based govt
The majority of Kenyans are against the Broad-Based government birthed by the agreed working frame between President William Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
According to the latest TIFA Polls, the coming together of President William Ruto and the ODM leader is facing rejection in the country.
”The broad-based government faces a legitimacy challenge, as opposition is not only dominant but also growing. Although support has inched up slightly, it remains far overshadowed by those opposed, and indecision is declining as citizens become more decisive in their stance,” TIFA said in a statement on Thursday, September 11, 2025.
Kenyans opposing the Broad-Based government in September increased from 54 per cent to 64 per cent in August 2025.
A total of 7 per cent among Kenyans had a response on the topic in September, compared to 25 per cent of the people with no comment on the Broad-Based government in August.
The latest release is based on a TIFA national survey conducted from 23 August 23 and September 3, 2025. In the process, a total of 2023 randomly selected Kenyan adults (aged 18 and above) across all 47 counties were interviewed at their residences.
The Release covers the economic realities faced by Kenyans as well as the situation in the country more generally, including several aspects of government policy and performance.
It also includes findings related to political alignment and the 2027 election. Certain of these results are then correlated with views about so-called Broad-Based Government (the BBG). Doing this at least partly answers the question as to the underlying bases for the contrasting views about the BBG (aside from various ‘identity’ factors).
