Thirdway Alliance expels four top officials ahead of 2020 polls
Thirdway Alliance Kenya party has expelled four of its top officials over gross misconduct.
National Chairperson Daniel Muiruri Waweru, Deputy Party Leader Angela Mwikali, National Women Leader Giovanna Bunei and Deputy Youth Leader Joan Lagat were kicked out of the party on Friday for violating its constitution.
“That the decision to expel the four members was made after extensively attempting to explore the provisions of Articles 14 and 25 of the party constitution that provides for the disciplinary measures of the party officials and Internal Dispute Resolution Mechanism (IDRM). These were severally frustrated by the expelled individuals,” the party said in a statement.
The party further stated that the National Executive Committee (NEC) recommended the removal of the four without any malice, bias, or hatred.
It also explained that the four were summoned to appear before the party’s NEC but they failed to do so.
The statement went ahead to allege that the four were colluding with ex-party leader Ekuru Aukot on some party issues.
“The four suspended members have since joined hands with the former party leader Ekuru Aukot who is fighting in the corridors of courts to regain his position and now frustrating party operations from outside,” the statement read in part.
