A family at Chania estate in Thika, Kiambu County is in distress after their kin, a mother of two disappeared mysteriously on Thursday last week.

Elizabeth Nkatha Muriithi, 45, left their home at mid-morning shortly after attending to some workers at a construction site where they are building a house.

According to their house help Elizabeth Nabuto and who was last with her, Nkatha woke up and as usual had her breakfast.

Moments later, she went back to their bedroom and took her phone before proceeding to the construction site where the family is building a house just adjacent to the estate.

Nabuto asserted that after a short conversation with the workers, she did not return to the house but went outside the gate, never to be seen again.

A day before her disappearance, Nkatha had visited Priston Kiogora Mbaabu, her husband at Kenyatta University Teaching and Referral Hospital (KUTRRH) where he has been recuperating after he was diagnosed with COVID -19.

Godfrey Mwenda, her brother-in-law, told journalists that their kin looked stressed when they went to see her husband in hospital.

The hitherto weakening state of Kiogora who has since been discharged, Mwenda said could have drawn Nkatha into depression as the two have been living a good, peaceful life together.

“We had spent Wednesday together and she looked depressed having seen the state of her husband. The two have been living a good life together,” said Mwenda.

The brother-in-law said they have since searched for her at rivers, hospitals, mortuaries in Kiambu and Nairobi Counties in futility.

Family members noted that Nkatha was last wearing a dark green pull neck, pink and white jumper, grey ¾ and pink croaks hair style piece line.

The family which has since reported her disappearance at Thika police station under OB No. 40/28/05/21 has now embarked on printing and placement of posters in Embu, Machakos and other counties neighbouring Kiambu County all in efforts to look for Nkatha.

They called on persons who could be in the know of her whereabouts to report to a police station near them or direct her back to their Thika home.

“We love and miss you mum. We all need you back home and our hope is that you are safe wherever you are,” Kevin Mutembei, the distraught eldest son said.
