Tahmeed bus breaks silence after Nairobi-Mombasa Road crash claims 6 lives

In a statement shared on the company’s social media pages on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, the company expressed its deepest condolences to the families, friends and loved ones of those who lost their lives in the crash. It also wished a speedy recovery to those who sustained injuries, describing the incident as a heartbreaking tragedy that has deeply affected everyone at the company.
Tahmeed confirmed that the accident involved one of its buses and said it was working closely with the relevant authorities as investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash continue.

The company said preliminary information indicates that the accident occurred after a lorry collided with another truck while attempting to overtake, causing one of the vehicles to veer into the path of the oncoming Tahmeed bus. However, it stressed that investigations are ongoing and that the final findings will determine the exact cause of the accident.
Tahmeed also commended the emergency response teams, police officers, medical personnel and members of the public who responded swiftly to the scene to assist the victims.

In a statement shared on X on Saturday, January 3, 2026, Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti confirmed that six people died while seven others sustained serious injuries in the accident along Mombasa Road at Katumani, near Konza City.
The latest accident has once again raised concerns over road safety along the busy highway, with the identical death toll and number of injuries highlighting the recurring nature of fatal crashes at the location.
