Sudan condemns RSF’s fictitious govt, accuses Kenya of violating its sovereignty

By , July 28, 2025

The Sudanese government has issued a strong statement condemning the announcement of a “fictitious government” by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), a militia it labels as terrorist.

In a press release issued on Sunday, July 27, 2025, posted on X on July 28, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the RSF’s claims of forming a new government are completely false and harmful to the suffering people of Sudan.

The Ministry stated that the RSF’s actions show no regard for the pain and suffering the militia has caused. Since the conflict began, the RSF has been accused of committing brutal acts, including violence and torture of civilians.

The government described the RSF’s recent propaganda on social media as a desperate attempt to cover up its defeat by Sudan’s Armed Forces.

Officials also criticised the involvement of some civilian groups that reportedly helped the RSF with this declaration, accusing them of working with the militia to grab power by force. Sudan’s authorities said this conspiracy can be traced back to the violent events of April 15, 2023.

Sudan accuses Kenya interference

The statement went further to criticise the Republic of Kenya for hosting RSF leaders in Nairobi, where the group held meetings to prepare for the announcement of the fake government.

“The Government of Sudan expresses its deep concern and strongly condemns the approval and facilitation by the Republic of Kenya of preparatory meetings held by the rebel militia in Nairobi to announce its illegitimate government.”

Sudan described this move as a serious violation of its sovereignty and a breach of the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of other nations.

The government urged the international community, including neighbouring countries, the United Nations, the African Union, and IGAD, not to recognise or deal with the RSF’s self-declared administration. Sudan warned that doing so would be seen as an attack on its legitimate government and a violation of its people’s rights.

“The Government of Sudan calls on all neighboring countries, the international community, regional and international organizations, governmental bodies, and other relevant entities to denounce this declaration. It urges them not to recognize or engage with this illegitimate entity announced by the terrorist militia. The Government further emphasizes that any form of interaction with this declaration will be considered a direct assault on the legitimate Government of Sudan and its sovereignty over all of its territory, as well as a flagrant violation of the rights and resources of the Sudanese people.”
