State takeover of City Hall dockets challenged in court

By , February 26, 2020

A Nairobi resident has moved to court to challenge the transfer of some of Nairobi County Government functions to the National Government.

Robinson Murimi Karani wants Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko, the Nairobi County Government and the Attorney General barred from enforcing, implementing or effecting its decision on the said agreement made on Tuesday.

He says Sonko was not authorized to make the decision and denied Nairobi residents a reasonable opportunity to make their case.

He says the decision was unlawful, unreasonable, procedurally unfair and taken with ulterior motive to prejudice the legal rights of the Nairobi residents.
