State plans to revive TVET certification council
The government has announced plans to revive the TVET Curriculum Development Assessment and Certification Council (TVET-CDACC), which was disbanded last year by the Jubilee government.
TVET Principal Secretary Dr Esther Muoria yesterday said once this is done, the government will fully embark on the journey of curriculum reforms in TVET to ensure students take 70 per cent training in the industry and the remaining 30 per cent in the college.

Muoria said this will also lead to appointment of new Council members. “I have already directed my officers to develop a database of all industries in the country with which we shall partner in skills delivery,” said Dr Mworia during the Young Africa works-Youth employability project partners’ technical forum in Naivasha. She said that one of the components of the project is to provide Competency Based Education Training (CBET) to TVET Trainers saying this key towards successful rollout of the CBET Strategy in TVETs across the country.
Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA) acting Director General Dr Alice Kande, underscored the critical role the Authority plays in ensuring credible qualifications in the country.
On Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Kande said the policy will ensure that learners with no formal education are recognised.
