Nandi: Local leaders protest eviction of squatters from private land

By , October 30, 2022

A section of political leaders from Nandi Hills constituency in Nandi County have protested the removal of squatters at Kaptindo estate in Tartar location in Nandi Hills sub-county.

The area MP Bernard Kitur says the owner of the land did not do justice to the squatters who have been in the 32 acre land for over 77 years.

According to Charles Boit, who is the land owner, the squatters made an agreement to move out of the land having signed a memoranda.

He claims that no one forced them out despite the court rulling in 2014 allowing their eviction. The sentiments were however disputed by area leaders, who questioned the eviction process which has left many homeless.
