Seth Panyako: Angry and bitter Malava constituents are ready to elect me

By , September 9, 2025

Kenya National Union of Nurses (KNUN) chair Seth Panyako has expressed confidence that he is the most suitable candidate to win the Malava by-election.

While being interviewed by a local TV channel on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, Panyako said he is ahead of the pack seeking to replace the late Malulu Injendi, who died a few months ago.

He stated that residents of Malava are still angry over what happened to him in previous elections, noting that in both 2017 and 2022, his victory was stolen. According to him, the people are now determined to ensure their will is respected and that no one interferes with the results.

He maintained that the electorate has already made up its mind and wants him as the next Member of Parliament, adding that he has the numbers to secure the seat.

“Number one is that people are very angry about what has happened to me in two elections. In 2017, they knew my victory was stolen; in 2022, they know it was stolen. This time they are very bitter and angry, and they are going to vote and make sure that anybody who is going to steal my votes…”

“The only issue I have is protecting my votes. The people of Malava have already made up their minds; they want me to be the next member of parliament. They have wanted me since 2017, but their will has always been diverted by dark forces. I am confident I have the numbers.”

Party factor

Panyako further argued that leaders from Western Kenya are rallying their people to align with the government in order to have a voice in national development. He pointed out that his decision to vie for the Democratic Action Party ticket gives him an advantage, as the party continues to gain ground and resonate with residents in the region.

The by-election is expected to be a tough contest, with three strong candidates in the race.

They include the son of the late Malulu Injendi, who is seeking to succeed his father on a UDA ticket, and a Democracy for Citizens (DCP) Party candidate being backed and campaigned for by the party’s interim Deputy Party Leader, Cleophas Malala.
