Here is what you need to know in order to get up to speed with today’s news.
EACC media session
On Wednesday, September 13, 2023, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) is set to host a session titled “Reality versus Perception.” The event will take place in Nairobi from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm and will involve media practitioners under the Kenya Editors Guild.
During this session, CEO Twalib Mbarak and Chairperson Dr David Oginde will address the forum, shedding light on key issues and responding to media inquiries regarding current anti-corruption matters.
The Kenya Editors Guild will also provide feedback to the EACC regarding media perceptions and their evaluation of the fight against corruption in Kenya.
This engagement is a recognition of the significant role played by Kenyan media in the pursuit of accountability in public affairs management.
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua in Colombia
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and his delegation, which includes farmers are in Bogota, Colombia.
Their visit is in preparation for the Coffee Producers and Roasters Forum in Medellin City, aimed at promoting coffee production for improved farmer earnings.
Before the forum, the Deputy President is expected to participate in various activities. On Tuesday, he joined the residents of At El Virrey Park for a fitness session. His agenda on Wednesday, leading up to the forum, will also be closely monitored.
Together with his delegation, Deputy President Gachagua will engage in high-level business forums and hold bilateral discussions with the host Vice President H.E. Francia Marquez, as part of their objective to strengthen relations with the Latin American country for mutual benefit.
Ababu Namwamba at Commonwealth Youth Ministers Meeting
The Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, the Arts, and Sports, Ababu Namwamba, is currently in London attending the Commonwealth Youth Ministers meeting. This event, which convenes every four years, focuses on youth policy for Commonwealth member states and contributes to broader social and sustainable development goals from a youth development perspective.
Chaired by the Government of Pakistan, the 10th Commonwealth Youth Ministers Meeting is taking place at Marlborough House in London, United Kingdom, with the theme “Aiming Higher: Delivering More for Young People in the Commonwealth.”
The meeting will address various issues, including Education, Employment, Environment, and Engagement. Additionally, there are cross-cutting themes for the meeting, such as Human Rights, Transformative Technology, and Disability.
The 10th Commonwealth Youth Ministers Meeting has brought together Youth Ministers, senior government officials, youth representatives, youth workers, and other stakeholders from across the Commonwealth to discuss and advance youth-related policies and initiatives.
