Senate forms House Business Committee

The Senate has formed a 12-member team to serve in the powerful House Business Committee (SBC).
The Senate approved Ali Roba (Mandera), Edwin Sifuna (Nairobi), Agnes Kavindu (Machakos), Mwinyihaji Faki (Mombasa), Hillary Sigei (Bomet), Veronica Maina (nominated) and Tabitha Mutinda (nominated) to be members of the powerful committee.


The committee chaired by House Speaker Amason Kingi (pictured), also has the Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot (Kericho), Senate Minority Leader Stewart Madzayo (Kilifi), the Senate Majority Whip Boni Khalwale (Kakamega) and the Senate Minority Whip Ledama Ole Kina (Narok).

“I present the names of the seven Senators to the house plenary for approval by members pursuant to Standing Orders 190 and 199(3) to serve in the Senate Business Committee in addition to the Speaker of the Senate, the Senate Majority Leader, the Senate Minority Leader, the Senate Majority Whip and the Senate Minority Whip,” said Kingi.


The duties of the Senate Business Committee, include preparing and adjusting the Parliamentary Calendar with the approval of the House, monitoring and overseeing the implementation of House Business and programs.
