Sen Dan Maanzo links lawyer Kyalo Mbobu’s death to money and lands cases
Makueni Senator Dan Maanzo has linked city lawyer Mathew Kyalo Mbobu’s assassination to the cases of land and money that the deceased has been dealing with in the corridors of justice.
Speaking in a TV interview on Thursday, September 11, 2025, the legislator said dealing with such high-magnitude cases attracts danger. However, Maanzo also called upon individuals linked to Mbobu’s killing to come forward and assist the police in investigations.
“When you are dealing with cases involving a lot of money or land, there’s bound to be danger. Whoever has information about these people should report to the police.”
Lawyer Kyalo Mbobu was fatally shot on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, along Magadi Road, Nairobi. His assassination has seen leaders across the political divide unite, calling for justice and asking for a speedy investigation into the matter. Upon his demise, Kyalo Mbobu boasted of 30 years of practising law and serving as a lecturer at the University of Nairobi.
His family, led by Lawyer James Maluki, has appealed to the government to expedite the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting of the well-known legal practitioner, including who pulled the trigger, who sponsored it, and the reasons behind the act.
