Security to be beefed up in Matungulu
The government is set to intensify security in Matungulu sub-county in Machakos county ahead of Christmas and New Year celebrations.
Area deputy county commissioner Everlyne Wekesa yesterday said all trading centres and other major towns will henceforth have 24-hour security surveillance to ensure safety of residents and their property.
“There will be a lot of people visiting the rural areas during this festive season and we will increase patrols to keep criminals at bay,” Wekesa added.
Wekesa also advised the public to adhere to all security advisories and traffic regulations during the celebrates to avoid any incidents. Suspicious activities She also urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or police emergency lines.
“We are aware of the crimes perpetrated by criminals during this period and we are ready to curtail any security breaches,” she added. She also called on the residents to be actively involved in fighting crime.
Wekesa urged parents to protect their children during the festive period. She said parents should know about their children’s whereabouts and what they are up to.
The deputy county commissioner advised parents to keep their children engaged during the holidays so as to avoid bad company and the temptation to engage in immoral behaviour.
“Parents should engage their children with homework, get them to help with house chores and also monitor who is with them at any given time,” she added
