Even after spending the better part of his Friday night at Kilimani Police Station, Nairobi senator Johnson Sakaja says he was never arrested.
On Saturday morning, the Senator tweeted refuting claims of his arrest. He asked to be shown the Occurrence Book(OB) number.
Never been arrested. Won’t be. Show me an OB Number.

The Senator was arrested with three other people while drinking within the curfew hours which is against the Covid-19 containment rules, a police report indicates.
According to the report from the station, police found Sakaja drinking at a club in Kilimani with nine other people. The report said Sakaja was arrested at 0110hrs Saturday.
“On visiting the said bar, police found about ten people seated outside drinking amongst the Senator Nairobi Hon Sakaja(sic),” read the police statement.
Police arrested him after he declined to ‘flee’ even when he was ordered to do so.
The police also said Sakaja insisted on being arrested as he was asked to leave several times but he declined. He instead offered himself to be handcuffed.
His three colleagues ‘refused’ to give their names to the police while the rest escaped. Sakaja is said to have refused to take a free bond.
At the station, he ‘threatened’ to transfer all the officers.
Senator Sakaja is the Chairman of the Senate ad-hoc Covid-19 Committee.
